Hôtel: a Parisian brand turning discarded hotel curtains into jackets

,

For people who like products with a story like I do, Hôtel is an absolute thrill. While walking through the streets of Paris Alexandra Hartmann found a pile of discarded curtain fabrics from a hotel nearby.

The beauty of this fabrics gave her instant inspiration: why creating new fabrics if I can use these beautiful old ones. That’s how she ended up in her Belleville apartment creating highly fashionable jackets and tops Vogue now writes about.

” I studied film and later fashion design. I soon realized that I had chosen to work in an industry that was one of the most polluting worldwide. For me, it´s not just about designing and making apparel; the world really doesn’t need more clothes. Today you can’t just be a fashion designer, it’s imperative to think about the impact you have on your surroundings. So, for me, being a designer also means coming up with solutions. I like that kind of challenge. ”  said Alexandra in an interview with www.florandcesta.com

Alexandra has to work around stains and cigarette burns, but the result is stunning. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and wow, if they could talk those curtains, what a story they would tell!

The jackets and tops are sold on the Hôtel e-shop. where you can see the fabric each piece is made out of.
