If you have a real close look you can see the surprise hidden behind this stunning Oscar de la Renta dress. The big secret of the new flagshipstore of this American brand in the city if lights. My friend Kattia Ballon, who priorly made the Balenciaga store on Avenue George V to a big success, is now in charge of this very first Oscar de la Renta boutique in Paris. And Kattia never comes without a surprise, as everyone knows in fashionable Paris.
During the renovation of this beautiful 19th century building in the rue de Marignan ( around the corner of the Avenue Montaigne), a giant painting was discovered. The piece of art measures 5 by 3 square meters and fully covers a wall on the first floor of the boutique. As Kattia explained to me, it has been painted by Arnould de Vuez in 1674 and it shows the adventures of the marquis de Nointel, one of Louis XIV ambassadors, on his trip to Jerusalem. It also gives us quite a good idea of what people “simply” hung on their walls during those days…
Oscar de la Renta has taken care of the renovation, which seriously delayed the opening date. The result however, has definitively given the boutique an extra touch or even a whole new concept as a museum – boutique. And, most of all, a good reason to walk in and ask for Kattia. With a little bit of luck, she will show you the painting or even better, the spectacular collections signed by Oscar de la Renta.
